Scores for Daily Living is the new publication by Emma Waltraud Howes. Following in the footsteps of her 2014 title Ankyloglossia, its focus lies on different states of self-empowerment, and distinct characteristics informing the interconnections between labour, ritual, and civilization.

This “tool book” assembled by Emma Waltraud Howes and her collaborators operates from the viewpoint that embodied history offers important information for survival. Through live performances and material works, Howes explores how scores can be used to negotiate the everyday and introduces practical exercises for maintaining a tether amidst the chaos. Through variations on rhythm and gait, gravity and grace, the choreography for this monograph aims to offer readers a book of tools to build upon.

Scores for Daily Living. Concept and Design by Emma Waltraud Howes and Franziska Morlok. With contributions by Federica Bueti, Emma Haug, Anna Karpenko, and Maria Veie Sandvik. With editing by Mark Soo and photography by Trevor Good. German translation by Isabel Bredenbröker.
