The year of swarming and creation in its emergent state ends with a thunderbolt, with this manifestation of the future which, in a bright flash, transforms our perspective with no possibility of turning back. While lightning in reality only exists for a fraction of a second, it induces powerful transformations that upend the order of things. Its presence is thus followed by this altered state—of the landscape, of a person, of a relationship—after the event.

After the lightning strike, the flash of genius, the death of a part of oneself, one must produce, like electrons, protons, and neutrons, contributing to rebalancing, all while knowing that this balance will not last. For the storm is intrinsically cyclical; it allows the wind to sweep across the lands and the skies, for rain to fall, soak, nourish, bead, evaporate, accumulate, soar, and burst again. Thunderbolts lead us to reconsider creation through the prism of science and nature, and above all, of humanity. What is sudden brilliance on the scale of a lifetime?
