response-ability (rehearsal)
with Gwenneth Boelens

2016

The public came to see an art exhibition, but they encountered a small empty space filled with people. Only through small gestures or acts did it become clear that part of the visitors was performing. For the duration of one evening a small group of actors and students explored the space between thought and its expression, especially the physical response to emotional impact, or simply to what they observed. The research arose from an interest in, and confusion about, the duality between direct corporeal response to things and the inability to respond or act.
