Victoria (Acts I, II, & III)
with Hadley + Maxwell

2014

Queen Victoria was the first Monarch to be photographed; the movement for this performance in three acts is inspired by photographic images of Victoria and popular erotic photography from the era of her reign. The audio is composed of collaged text from Queen Victoria’s private diaries, Victorian erotica, and contemporary texts, negotiating a Queen’s struggle to grasp a sense of her self in the conflict between her private interior life and her public external appearance.
